Trivia time -- what recording artist is part owner in the Charlotte Bobcats and was also scouted by the Pittsburgh Pirates? Hint -- he had an album with the name 'Country' in it that was certified octuple-platinum (8m copies sold).

Not sure? Click the play button above for another hint as one of the songs is played that could describe the Pirates front office right now.

For those hearing challenged, the answer here tomorrow.

Jake Peavy was arrested last night for disorderly conduct in Mobile, AL, on his way to, of all things, a goodwill tour in the Domin. Evidently he double-parked his car arriving, was told to move it by security, he tounted the officer, and it escalated. Peavy was arrested and later released on a $350 bond. There was no word on whether he will continue his goodwill tour.

Eric Bolling at CNBC, reports natural gas futures in Pittsburgh are up significantly with the planned acquisition of Trot Nixon. He advises his clients to buy stock in Proctor & Gamble, the manufacturer of Charmin - the official toilet paper of the Pittsburgh Pirates.

BuccoWire did a nice report on the Pirates D+ organizational report card from Baseball America. Gee, what would your parents have said if you brought home a D+ in math?

Ah.. Pineiro was eaten up by the Red Sox. I guess that means Littlefield will sign one of the freaks left on the market - bounce-back Lawrence or the old metal plate and screws in his forearm and now with a torn rotator cuff Okha.

Life is good for Pirate fans.

I was asked by quite a few who emailed me if I really was against the Jose Hernandez signing and my answer is - no, not at all. I mean, starting from the 25 hole and working backwards is fine. Kidding aside, Jose is a great guy, a real competitor, and more importantly for us, a true blue super-utilityman. He's the last one on the 25-man I'm worried about.

Here's a Cub fan who predicts the Cubs to finish ahead of the Cardinals and Astros and he expects them to win the division with a 94-68 record. The unique part of his prediction is that he expects the Cardinals to finish with a sub .500 record for the first time since 1999.

What he doesn't go on to explain is what Cub pitcher will be pitching to Pujols, Edmonds, and Rolen. Hmm..

His take on the Pirates? "They won’t be all that bad.." but then says we'll finish with 91 losses. LoL I wonder if this guy will take a bet on the season?

Just in time for the 2007 season where you expect to be home instead of at the ballpark - 30% off a Pirate bar tool. Hey wait.. isn't that an Indian?

--

Gosh.. and we signed Clemente for $4,000. Unbelievable.

Hey - Shelby Ford has moved up to 10th on John Sickles Pirate prospect list. That's quite a jump Shelby for just sitting home listening to the Blues downtown.

Dejan finally admits he had no specific knowledge of Duffy ever enter the equation with Gonzo for LaRoche, as Bucco Blog has told you all along. Read my lips - it is Maholm and Gonzo they want.. then they will talk. Perhaps this will change as time goes by and Littlefield stands his ground against trading Maholm - as he should. It could also trade if the Braves ever pull the trigger on the Jones deal with the Angels that is said to be hanging on for dear life.

But then Dejan disses Duffy by even mentioning the possibility exists he could walk away from the game again. Geezz.. leave the kid alone.. he paid his dues.

And no, Duffy is not a gold glove center fielder, as much as I love him. Not even close.. yet.

Big day tomorrow at Bucco Blog as we unveil something nobody has access to regarding the Pirates.. nobody has yet, that is. You won't want to miss it. hehe

Please say more about the Atlanta Braves and Left Coast Angels involving Andruw Jones and whom else? Thanks!

I am the Cubs fan that predicted the Pirates improving on last year but not finishing about .500. I did a blog about the Pirates before the recap you included a link to and I talked about how the Pirates could be really scary in 2007. I just think they are a year away from putting in all together. I appreciate the link to my site and I know the Pirates are looking a lot better than in the last few years. They won't be a doormat anymore. Good luck Pirates fans. Your team is really looking good.
