Pirates on losing end of wild ride

Friday's game was one of the more comical games I have seen all year. Miscues, fumbles, bad throws, out of position fielders, ridiculous game management calls by both catchers, dropped balls, and the list goes on and on.

In the end, the Cubs mashed past the Pirates putting them up two games on the Brewers who play Friday night.

This game was played so poorly by both clubs, it isn't worth discussing.

--

Other than the 1st, 2cd, and 3rd innings of Friday's insane game, in the last 21 innings the Pirates have had 79 men come to bat, managed just 12 hits (.164 BA) with three of those infield hits, struck out 32% of the time, and, believe it or not, managed just 40% of all balls they put in play to reach the outfield, and that includes the grounders through the infield.

--

Cesar Izturis left Friday's game with "right elbow irritation", Jason Bay remained on the pine with his "knee" problem, and for the second day in a row, Salomon Torres refused to show up in time for the game. He's expected in late Friday night. Word on the street is that Jack Wilson is not expected to show up Sunday and the Pirates will state his "hammy" is still bothering him. We'll see.

I guess this is what I get for laughing at the Astros hire.

The more I talk to folks around the game, the more disappointed I am in Frank Coonelly's pick for general manager, if Huntington is actually named GM.

Huntington isn't a "brilliant" pick for anyone except Frank Coonelly who must be kissing Robert Nutting's butt and his pocketbook. In fact, Huntington is an extremely poor and inexperienced pick considering the men potentially available like Logan White, Tony LaCava, Eddie Bane, David Forst, and many, many, others.

The Nutting kin theme seems to continue - maximum profits with little to no regard for competition. The players are upset, the clubs are laughing at us again, and agents are wondering who the Pirates could ever get to sign with them.

I'm totally disgusted. The scant bit of hope I had left in my locker trying as hard as I could to believe anything Robert Nutting said, will be flushed down the toilet when Huntington is announced.

We had a chance.. we had a chance..

Will the Pirates be in Pittsburgh after 6 more years of Dave Littlefield II era. I know the Nuttings will be packed with cashola that's for sure. What a disappoint Frank Coonelly is with this first hiring what a **** joke he is now.

Once again...the sky is falling and the panic button has been pushed. Don't believe Sunny's sources. They are almost always wrong. In fact, your sources claiming it's a bad hire is a positive in my book since your sources are almost always wrong. Cheer up. This is a good thing and this bodes well for this hire if it does indeed happen.

Our Buccos have quit for the year. Shameful. I'd be ripping new *** holes if I could.

Separately, let's give the new guys a few months before proclaiming all is lost. After 15 consecutive losing seasons, we should have developed some patience, if nothing else.

lol come on mand. David Littlefield 6 years ago was built up as this great scouting

You are the joke in this situation...I'm not sure what creditable MLB sources would even talk to you. Everything I've read about Huntington has been very positive, and his evaluation background suggests he will be a good fit for the structure of this organization. Somehow in your screwed up understanding of baseball, going to a good college, not being from Pittsburgh, and not being Tony LaCava makes you an automatic flop as GM of the Pirates. As always you should try making more of an effort to learn about a subject before crapping out ridiculous opinions.

Aflew , David Littlefield was known for his scouting aspects when we hired him years ago the same Huntington is known for. Huntington is not a leader he's a behind the scenes type guy that's what he was in cleveland. Chris Antonetti was more of Shapiros man in Cleveland. LaCava is more of a leader type gm prospect he was more in the limelight out there drafting talent working with very little resources while the Indians have a lot of money in the minors to work with. Huntington = Littlefield which = 19 to 20 losing seasons in row which breaks the phillies record of 17 before the next gm is hired.

They are all behind the scenes until they take the rains as GM. And I think if you look at Huntington's Player Development record with the Indians you will see how accomplished he has been - especially still being a young executive. Is someone related to Tony LaCava at this website? It must be a Yinzer thing? You guys make it sound like he build the Blue Jays with his bare hands - how many championships have they won since he's been in Toronto?
