Perrotto: Huntington's the GM
Beaver County Times writer John Perrotto stated this morning that:
"The Pittsburgh Pirates have all but settled on their next general manager and it appears their choice is going to be a surprise.
Multiple baseball sources told The Times on Thursday night that the Pirates are leaning heavily toward hiring Neal Huntington, a special assistant to the general manager with the Cleveland Indians."
Wow - just when you thought it couldn't get any worse in Pittsburgh, Perrotto comes up with the name of Dave Littlefield's assistant in Montreal.
Brutal.
Since Perrotto has been known to see flying cows at times, I'm not going to hold my breath that Coonelly and Nutting are so stupid they plan to hire Littlefield II.
What a PR nightmare.
Knowing Coonelly was still conducting interviews late this week, we're going to write off Perrotto's article as a joke on Pirates' fans for right now.
A sick joke.
The bottom line is that if anyone besides LaCava is hired, you will be whining about it. We are already prepared for that. The sad thing is that you don't know any more than any other fan who the best person for the job will be. You probably know next to nothing about Neal Huntington along with most other fans. Whether LaCava, Amaro, Huntington, or any one else gets the job, we as fans will not really know what kind of a job he is doing for several years. And if isn't LaCava, you'll spend all your time twisting every move the GM makes into something negative here in your blog.

seems like that ball park franks guy is a bit overcooked in the head Jake. I'm surprised by Huntington too.

Huntington was with Montreal from 1995-1997. Littlefield came into Montreal in 1997-1998. Ed Creech was there from 1994-1997.
At most, they had one year together.
Huntington has been in the Indians organization since 1998. I find that far more intriguing than crossing paths with Littlefield and Creech in his first job in MLB.

Huntington was Littlefield's assistant. ;)

What a piece of **** hire. Neal Huntington role with the Indians is very minor. Antonetti has more of a role as Shapiro right hand man then Huntington another bad hire. What do we expect 2 good hires in row,i guess not.
