Jake Jabbers for a Cubs Blog
Drew over at the well read 'A League of Her Own' Cubs blog asked a few questions of me the other day about the Pirates and it was published today.
At first I thought they were asking me the questions because they had a feeling the Cubs were going to blow up their $100MM mistake and were thinking the Pirates would take some of the pieces.
Instead, it turned out to be just another Cubs fan wanting to bait a Pirate fan, but that didn't last long as you can when you read the article.
They countered with this statement:
"Unfortunately for him, I get the last laugh, as the Pirates perhaps have the worst winning % of the last 10 years."
And perhaps we do - I'm just not sure what the value of that is though.
Considering the Cubs didn't have a winning record in 17 of their 20 seasons from 1973 - 1992 which has never happened in Pittsburgh, and the Pirates have two World Series titles and six pennants since 1970 with the Cubs getting just three pennants, a wild card berth, and not even sniffing the World Series the last 100 years, I'm not sure I understand why they would want to rag on our current misery.
But it was all in fun.
I did hear Lou Piniella was out scouting some younger talent the other day. I have a special video of that player's leadership qualities right here.
Isn't July 6 - 8th another wear your horns weekend in Pittsburgh? hehe
It's not really fair to say that Walker has spent two years in Altoona either. He was in Lynchburg most of the season last year, and on the DL for a good part of that. Considering the downtime Walker had in 2006, I'm amazed at his current numbers and his adaptation to working third base. Neil is impressive. In fact, I looked at several of his numbers when I made my blog post tonight.
