Just Shut Up Jack Wilson

We see that Dejan over at the Post-Gazette has finally gotten the story straight about who the Braves want for LaRoche.. a starter with Gonzalez as we have been telling you for over a month now.

In that same article he quotes Jack Wilson as saying:

"Adam LaRoche is a team-changing player."

And you can quote him on that too.

Please.

Can you tell ole Jack is spurting some PR for the organization knowing he was shopped at the deadline last year?

You are a good corporate boy Jack.. *pat* *pat*

The only change LaRoche makes to the Pirates is that we become even more dependent on platooning. Oh boy. Sure, he brings some power too if opposing pitchers are stupid enough to feed his bread basket. But don't count on that in the NLCD. And God knows he is a team-changing defender over Nady. At least THAT part is right.

But if Jack Wilson wants Pirate fans to believe for one second that by adding Adam LaRoche the Pirates will become a contender, as he seems to imply, Jack must think he is on the Dodgers or something. Or maybe Wilson just means he would be glad to have a huge 6' 3" target to throw to at 1B so he wouldn't commit so many errors again next year? That WOULD be team-changing, huh Jackie?

If Casey and Burnitz and Randa couldn't change the Pirates, no thanks to Jack booting most of the balls in play his way, I don't know how in the world Adam LaRoche and his subterranean batting average against southpaws is going to make any difference what so ever.

Please.

What is really needed to make the Pirates better is for players like Jack Wilson to not prove year-in and year-out that Brian Boehringer was right about him. As I see it, Boehringer should've smacked Jack upside the head instead of just mouthing off telling him how frikin lazy he is on defense.

Know what I mean Mr. Maholm?

Maybe Duke will take a cue from the Boh next year when Jack or Jose let a simple groundball go past or under their glove like they did so many times in 2006?

Please.

Well there is some hope. Pudgy Jack admitted in the same article he has put the Milky Way bars down and started to exercise for the first time in a year. The article said:

"Wilson vowed after last season, one in which he committed a career-high 18 errors, to shed weight and improve his agility. "I really felt I let my team down for the main reason that I'm there, and I have a lot of making up to do."'

Gee.. kissing front office butt looks to be a good start Jack. Perhaps they won't trade you to some far away land next year for a candy bar like they did with Perez?

I'm sorry, but when players run their mouth like they are blind to the reality that exists in Pittsburgh, somebody has to stand up and say

JUST SHUT UP JACK

Please.

I think I like the 2004 version of Jack Wilson much better when he came out and blasted the organization. True, he did wimp out and issue a retraction a couple days later, but still.

At least somebody understands reality.
